New technologies and low cost methods of design and production are transforming rural South Asia. Thousands of people, through web enabled technologies, now have access to some form of communication with the world around them, resulting in social upheaval and movements in rural South Asia. In addition, dialogues between emerging technology and existing social systems are more than ever visible: agriculture, for instance, is a field so transformed, as are rural communication and social networks. This revolution diverts increasingly sophisticated media and design attention to the face of rural South Asia.
Based on this theme, NDR Design Naturally invites articles and written pieces from scholars and researchers in the field on the theme of “Science and Technology in Rural South Asia”. Selected pieces will be given publicity through our professional network and the best pieces will be the subject of a print publication to be brought out in 2010. Articles should not be longer than 2000 words and be accompanied by author’s name, brief resume and areas of interest.
Kindly send your interest and articles to projects(dot)msk(dot)ndr(at)gmail(dot)com.
